Portable Resistive Load Bank
Adjustable resistive load on wheels for generator, UPS and transfer-switch testing. Fine load steps, digital metering and cam-lock connections. 25 – 500 kW.
Prove the Generator Before You Need It
A generator that has only ever idled has never been proven. A resistive load bank turns its output into heat, step by step, up to full rated power, so you can watch voltage, frequency and temperatures stay in line. Running at load also burns off the unburnt fuel and carbon (wet-stacking) that builds up in diesel engines run lightly. Our portable units roll in on casters, connect through a cam-lock panel and are controlled from the front panel or a remote controller.
- Fine load steps for accurate testing
- Digital kW, voltage, current and frequency readout
- Cam-lock connection panel
- Remote controller and data logging options
- Indoor use, or outdoor in fair weather
- Moves on casters with fork pockets
Portable Resistive Load Bank in plain words
What it does
A wheeled cabinet of heating elements and fans that puts a real, adjustable load on a generator or UPS so you can prove it carries full power.
Pick it when
- You test generators at several sites
- The test is indoors or in a parking garage, or outdoors in fair weather
- One or two people need to move it without a crane
Better choice if…
The generator is large and the load bank should stay connected permanently

Common Questions
In Canada, CSA C282 sets periodic testing for emergency generators in buildings, including load testing; the authority having jurisdiction and your insurer may add requirements. A load bank lets you meet them even when the building load is too small.
When a diesel runs lightly loaded, fuel and carbon do not burn completely and collect in the exhaust. A few hours at a high load from a load bank burns them off and restores performance.
