Overview

The Junction Point of an Underground Loop

Underground distribution runs in loops so that any cable section can be isolated and fed from the other end. Pad-mounted switchgear is where that happens: two switched ways carry the loop in and out, while fused ways tap power off to transformers or buildings. Doors on both sides give access to the cable elbows, and everything sits behind locked, tamper-resistant steel.

  • Load-break switched ways for the loop
  • Fused ways for transformer and building taps
  • Dead-front elbow connections
  • Front and rear access doors
  • Viewing windows on switched ways
  • Remote switching option

In Plain Words

Pad-Mounted Switchgear in plain words

What it does

A low, tamper-resistant outdoor cabinet that switches and protects underground medium-voltage cable loops and taps.

Pick it when

  • The medium-voltage system is underground
  • You need to sectionalize a cable loop or tap off fused branches
  • The gear sits outdoors in a public area

Better choice if…

The gear goes indoors or in a building

FAQ

Common Questions

Pad-mounted switchgear is a low, sealed outdoor cabinet for underground cable systems in public spaces. Metal-enclosed switchgear is a taller lineup for indoor rooms or substation yards.
